    I found this book to be really dissapointing The book certainly does not achieve its aims in try to say why America must engage with its enemies Given that I m a massive proponent of this approach, I was excited about reading a book on the subject But this book isn t really about that Instead, the introduction sets up the goals of the book in grandiose fashion, then completely ignores its purported aims The bulk of the book is about a few conversations the author had with different armed groups [...]

    A very interesting idea I m not sure that Perry is nuanced enough in his argument though He considers some pretty different groups to be very similar.
