On one hand, the story in the blurb, about how Brian is working with Life Skills class and ends up organizing a Spread the Word to End the Word rally to STOP bullying against challenged kids one with using the word retard which is very hurtful is VERY aspiring I love reading about this positive message, that bullying happens to not just GLBT kids but also kids who are not deemed normal That part of the story gets 4 stars.Unfortunately, there is another set of life skill here, which is what I cal [...]

4.5 stars This book has two very interesting and important topics woven into an entertaining YA story The first is the theme of bullying Jo Ramsey skillfully drives home the idea that bullying cuts deep and is the same issue whether you are being tormented for being gay bi, as the main character Brian and his boyfriend Javier have been, or for any other quality that puts you out of the all American norm In this short story, Brian is involuntarily introduced to the students in the Life Skills cla [...]

This is a great book with a much needed message about tolerance, not just for gay youth but anyone who is picked on for any reason This book is about tolerance for people with learning disabilities I can relate to this topic as I was classified learning disabled as a child and was called the R word many times but other kids.I wasn t really into the bi sexual part because I have a problem with the concept but the story was very well written and the book well edited It could have been a bit longer [...]

I really enjoyed this story and wished it was longer The only thing I did not like was the insignificant love triangle with Brian and his girlfriend Trista and his boyfriend Javier I don t have a problem with Brian being bisexual, I just didn t care for all the drama that come along with it I thought that the topic in this book was very important and meaningful but that the drama with Brain s love life over shadowed the message in the book.

This story was a very long lecture on ableism while using sexist language and phrasing And the MC was a dickhead.
